The main patterns of V-belt damages and methods of remedy:

Uneven rib profile wear. The causes of such damages are: misalignment and severe belt vibrations. In order to avoid the damage it is necessary to provide alignment of belt tension and its proper fitting under belt replacement.

Cracking and rupturing. The causes of such damages, besides the natural belt wearing (ageing), are in too high/low temperature, insufficient/excessive belt tension, as well as foreign matter. Abnormal rib profile wear. The causes may be as follows: insufficient tension, foreign matter, misalignment and pulley defect. In order to avoid damages, it is necessary to set correct belt tension under replacement, check axial position of drive and bearing clearance of pulleys, check pulleys.

Noise. It can appear as a result of insufficient/extensive tension, drive overload, misalignment of belt or foreign matter in drive. It is necessary to ensure the proper fitting and set correct tension under replacement, check axial position of drive and bearing clearance, rollers and drive components.
